WeÂ’re a fan of anime games, we love imports, and yet Victorious Boxers: Revolution is in no way a recommendation for anyone as far as weÂ’re concerned. Whether or not you like boxing or anime is irrelevant, as Victorious Boxers: Revolution fails to deliver motion controls that top even Wii Sports Boxing, offers very little as far as anime games go (even the simplistic Eyeshield 21 has this beat), and is a total mess of wonky control schemes, weak presentation, and broken gameplay. The only saving grace for the game comes with Classic Controller or GameCube support, and even then itÂ’s a far cry from a solid boxing experience, as the entire game boils down to button mashing. ThereÂ’s a serious lack of modes, the audio/video presentation is a mess, and the overall gameplay is simplistic and oftentimes broken. Just because this is the only boxing game available on Wii doesnÂ’t mean itÂ’s justified in its mediocrity. Every Wii owner in the United States got a better boxing experience packed in with their system with Wii Sports Boxing, and thereÂ’s simply no reason to pick this one up.

4.5 Presentation

The art style is interesting, and the game moves at an impressive speed. Load times are a bit long though, story mode is totally linear and can be beaten in a few hours, and motion control is broken.

6.0 Graphics

We like the look, but it comes with a ton of technical issues as well. The crowd looks horrible, the camera is the worst weÂ’ve seen in a long time, and there are jaggies galore.

4.0 Sound

ThereÂ’s a decent amount of VO, but it is totally disconnected and often overlaps itself. The music is decent, but generic.

4.5 Gameplay

Motion controls are almost entirely broken, pointer mode is totally impractical, but Classic Controller and GCN are supported. Tons of bugs, AI, and camera issues though.

4.0 Lasting Appeal

Even the most die-hard anime/boxing fan wonÂ’t last long. Buy Punch-Out!! on VC and save $35.

Schade ...

Da ich Boxen auf Wii-Sports super fand, hab ich über dieses Spiel nachgedacht. Dann einige Zeit später kam Freude auf als es für Europa bestätigt wurde. Der Trailer sah gut aus, aber als ich die beiden Reviews gelesen bzw. gesehen habe, war es aus. Hatte ja eigentlich viel Potential.

Naja, bleibt mehr Geld für anderen und bessere Spiele.

Oha das ist ja eine vernichtende Bewertung. Habe mich über jedes Boxspiel gefreut, das für die Wii angekündigt wurde. Aber diesen Titel kann man dann ja schlichtweg vergessen. Echt schade, gerade die Wii hat doch dank Wiimote und Nunchuck hervoragende Eigenschaften für Boxspiele!
